Psychedelic Cannabis & Breathwork
Psychedelic Cannabis
Psychedelic Cannabis: Therapeutic Methods and Unique Blends to Treat Trauma and Transform Consciousness, written by Daniel McQueen, lead instructor of Psychedelic Guide Training, re-introduces cannabis to the world as a reliable and legally accessible psychedelic medicine.
Clean, well grown, organic cannabis has evolved today to be exceptionally potent with THC levels testing around 25%-30%. When grown properly with care and love cannabis can produce diverse terpene profiles that contribute to the myriad of physiological and psychological effects that this amazing plant is capable of eliciting.
As surprising as it sounds, special blends of cannabis combined with our Mindfulness-Based Psychedelic Therapy protocols reliably elicit experiences that are as potent and as psychedelic as MDMA, LSD, Psilocybin, Ayahuasca and even DMT. These are very common experiences reported by both students and our clients, backed by 11 years of professional experience working with thousands of people.
Cannabis-Assisted Psychedelic Therapy, used in an intentional container with a professionally trained psychedelic guide deepens the healing and transformational process and makes somatic (body-centered) trauma work more efficient and more effective.
Clients frequently report:
- Extreme body awareness and a synesthesia of somatic and visual senses
- Active and very visual imaginal experiences and a deep connection with their intuition
- A connection with the sacred, deeply meaningful and transcendent
- A feeling of being very present, lucid and with a sense of agency during experience
- Profound new levels of nervous system regulation and trauma resolution
- Developing a sense of agency in life, with important situations and having more choice
- Feeling a deeper connection with their sense of purpose
Psychedelic Sitters School works with cannabis for these important reasons, and it is an excellent training tool that elicits full psychedelic experiences in shorter, more accessible session durations.
Cannabis has, until recently, an untapped potential of becoming a perfect medicine for advanced psychedelic therapists who wish to practice legally. The Center for Medicinal Mindfulness is a model for what is possible by starting with cannabis if that is the only legal medicine in your region, and growing into working with the other psychedelic medicines as they become legal.
Community Breathwork
Breathwork practices provide a non-medicine breathwork experience that compliments psychedelic medicine practices. The Center for Medicinal Mindfulness has been leading breathwork events, a program we call Community Breathwork, for about a decade.
There are thousands of “brands” offering different teaching related to breathwork practices that elicit altered states of consciousness. The breathwork practice we were introduced to was taught through an apprenticeship practice and is associated with rebirthing breathwork, a practice that we are not affiliated with. This practice was then modified to remove all of the unnecessary spiritual teachings and combined it with transpersonal theories such as the Holotropic principle. Unlike Holotropic Breathwork, another breathwork lineage developed about the same time by Dr. Stan Grof, we support the pacing of the breath to be client led. The practice is gentler and shorter than Holotropic Breathwork, and extreme, cathartic breakthroughs are not the primary intention.
Community Breathwork is an incredibly reliable practice to induce altered states of consciousness for healing and personal growth practices.
This practice is so important to transformational healing and trauma resolution that our Community Breathwork practice is taught as a free speciality through Psychedelic Guide Training. Students practice breathwork as part of their training, and learn the structure of breathwork sessions and groups through the general MBPT protocols. The breathwork specific training is provided through a new series of webinars beginning in 2025.
Cannabis-Assisted Breathwork
After a few years of practicing both psychedelic cannabis sessions and groups, and breathwork sessions and groups, Daniel McQueen began experimenting with combining them into a single, psychedelic protocol for transformational healing. Cannabis-Assisted Breathwork is a unique psychedelic modality that elicits extremely somatic and visually psychedelic experiences that are regularly described to be as evocative as DMT.
Cannabis-Assisted Breathwork experiences are a core part of Psychedelic Guide Training and other workshops and events. It is also an incredible integration practice to complete after other medicine experiences. The technique is taught in the Psychedelic Therapy and Clinical Cannabis Specialty as a potent trauma resolution tool.
