Professional Practice

The Center for Medicinal Mindfulness and allied programs are a vocational program. This means that we not only teach you how to be an excellent guide, but to also start a sustainable private practice as a psychedelic professional. We also have apprenticeship opportunities for assistant guides at our center, and we regularly hire guides from our graduates pool.

As a vocational program, we have set up a number of structures to support our graduates in becoming guides. This includes professional membership, the Gateway Guild, which is a professional association, practitioners directory and professional entrepreneurial consulting and mentorship.

In 2022, the Medicinal Mindfulness Foundation Board of Directors voted to become a Religious Non-Profit to start a process that would provide additional legal protections to our members. We are also a Professional Association so we can best represent our members through a collective voice for greater influence in our work. Maintaining membership is a foundation of our credentialing program and allows us to keep track of active members.

One of our core ethical requirements to practice professionally as a guide is community accountability and oversight, which is one of the primary functions of the Medicinal Mindfulness Foundation. When other Professional Oversight Associations are up and running, we may align with one of them or allow a variety of ways to maintain the community oversight requirement for professional membership.

Benefits of membership include:

  • Ongoing access to updated training materials
  • Ongoing access to updated legal documents for practitioners
  • Professional profile on our directory of practitioners
  • Professional opportunities such as becoming a paid assistant guide and guide at our center, or a trainer in our training program

Requirements:

  • Commitment to keep paperwork and agreements current
  • Membership level depends on completion of practicums and consulting requirements
  • Student Membership is $150/year after the first year. First year is free and part of the initial training.
  • Scholarships apply
  • Professional Membership is $300/annually. Scholarships apply.

The Psychedelic Guild associated with our programs is a community of psychedelic practitioners that believe proper training, credentialing, and community accountability are required to practice ethically and professionally.

The Psychedelic Guild is a Healer-Explorers Guild, a community of practice. The Oxford Dictionary defines a “guild” as “an association of people for mutual aid or the pursuit of a common goal” to maintain a sustainable, international network of competent, ethical, and professional psychedelic practitioners and aligned psychedelic medicine people, and to provide the necessary legal foundation for the professional services we provide to our students and professional members.

Our program is confident in our ability to recommend and support our graduates by representing a community of ethical, accountable and skillful guides. A professional directory of our members is currently being developed on our website: www.PsychedelicShine.com. Being in a directory such as ours allows our members to direct clients to a professional profile while still building a private practice and website. It is also a great way for us to recommend your work to the public. Linking your personal practice websites to your guild directory profile also increases your visibility and professional legitimacy.

The website hosts member events, classes, webinars and trainings and is a professional service for our members to help them manage their private practices.

The Center for Medicinal Mindfulness and Psychedelics Sitters School is a vocational program designed to support our graduates who are stepping into professional practice with psychedelic medicines. Our students are starting guiding practices across Colorado, the United States, and Canada, and we are helping centers get established on the West Coast from Alaska to San Diego, as well as several locations on the East Coast, in New York, Washington D.C., North Carolina and in many other areas. Internationally, centers are forming in Canada, Mexico, Israel, the Caiman Islands, and Australia.

As a vocational program, our students participate in professional mentorship programs that support the development of their private practice, from part time to full time, either individually, or with a group of peer allies.
